I'm of the opinion....screw Donald Fehr and screw the NHLPA. Let them have this vote...it won't change the fact that they aren't playing and it won't change the fact that they'll get a better deal.

We might not have one next year...

Anyone who has an objective thought on the subject can't possibly believe that the NHL is one negotiating. Every two weeks they are "DONE" negotiating. Until the next terrible take it or leave it offer.

Like it or not folks, this is reality. Just imagine the players getting set to enjoy Christmas with their families. Imagine some personal talks, maybe with wives, who have stayed supportive and distant from this stuff, finally saying....:"So what is it you guys are wanting? And what have they offered?"

And then the blank stares and stammering from some of our heros.

The chances of the NHL contracting is slim to none. The NHL wants to expand, not contract.

Here is the simple answer...a freaking JOB. Nobody owes an athlete a league to make millions of dollars a year because of some emotional BS.

This is what they are giving...or if you like, we can get rid of bad teams unprofitable and you will lose 150 to 200 nhl jobs...yeah that is smart.

Your either a player or a shill. Fact: The NHL and NHLPA negotiated a 50 - 50 split. The terms where on the table on the five important points that the NHL had to have, to make it work. The NHL backed away on allot of the arbitration items and the make whole provision actually bumped up the players share to 55% for this year. The 100 million dollar kicker was for the final ratification. That slimeball Fehr decided to do an end run and take the final cash, then try to change the terms of the agreed offer.

On the topic of this negotiation, where is it set in print that any player, agent or executive of the NHLPA is considered any part of being an owner in this NHL business? The players are the employees of the NHL, not part owners. The player agents are employees of the players and the league executives are also employees of the players. So this idea of calling the shots, by the players, rubs me the wrong way. This idea of the players saying they gave back and lost money is a misnomer, as their salaries actually increased by 80%, since the ratification of the last CBA.

Fact, a full one third of NHL teams lost money last year. Fact a full one third of NHL teams broke even last year. Fact: The top 8 teams made money and were forced to Revenue Share, to keep the weak teams afloat and pay these same ungrateful players on money losing franchises. Fact: There is very little loyalty from any of the NHL players towards the franchises that pay their salaries and made them rich. Fact: Every time I see a Weber, Suter, Parise, Nash, Richards, etc. bail on the franchises that made them rich, the more I want them to decertify, lose their contract status and take it in the a$$! This players union has gotten too big and powerful for the good of the game. It needs to go down hard and stay down.

I have, and it works great. Because they are actually educated and smart enough to know that if we do not have enough money coming in then they make none of us will be here. It is simple math. I don't mean to be a Richard, but this is not an emotional issue. It is simple math.

You do make some very valid points. But lets not forget that these are players who do a job that very few people in the world can do. I don't know what your job is but I would guess that there are Thousands and thousands of people who can do most peoples jobs. That's what makes NHL players different. People don't pay hundreds of dollars a night to watch us regular Joe's work. And the bail on franchises arguement doesn't really hold water. People leave their jobs for better ones every day.

Where are you getting this 55% number from? And there was no agreed upon deal. The NHL agreed to keep Arbitration the same.

It's not a misnomer. The rollback in salaries over the last CBA cost the players Billions. This is a negotiation for a Collective Bargaining Agreement. The players have a right to negotiate the CBA. In your view they're just supposed to just bend to the Owners?

None of us including you know for a fact who lost money, who broke even etc.
Free Agency is a negotiated right in the CBA that those players were entitled to exercise.
